Colgate Primary school has a strong inclusive ethos towards all our children. We aim to work closely with parents/carers to ensure each child is able to do the best they can.
Parental Support
Early Help
'Early Help' support children, young people and families who need extra support. They work with families, in their own homes and in the community, helping tackle problems before they become more difficult to reverse. They provide 12 Family Hubs across West Sussex offering:
» Drop-in services for information, advice and guidance
» Crisis support – such as emergency access to food and utilities
» Support and information for young people aged 11-25 on a range of subjects through our ‘Find it Out’ offer
» Access to services provided by our partners such as health clinics and support groups
» Social spaces to meet other parents
» Help to access the free entitlement to childcare places

West Sussex Parent Carer Forum
WSPCF is a community of parent carers who all have a child (aged 0-25 years) with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). Their mission is to offer information, support and training. By sharing their experiences and knowledge, they aim to build your confidence as you navigate your own ‘special needs’ journey.
Amaze
Amaze is a charity that gives information, advice and support to families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Brighton & Hove and Sussex.
West Sussex SENDIAS (SEND Information, Advice and Support) Service
The West Sussex SENDIAS Service provides impartial information, advice and support to parents/carers or children and young people (0-25) with SEND as well as children and young people themselves.
Compass Card
The Compass Card is a discount card for 0 to 25 year olds with special educational needs or disabilities in Brighton & Hove or West Sussex.
You can use the card at lots of leisure venues to get discounts or special offers.
Reaching Families
Reaching Families was first established in 2008 by parent-carers to “…empower, inform and support parents and families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in West Sussex”. Free training and support is available on the website.
Triple P: Positive Parenting Program
Triple P is an online parenting programme, but it doesn't tell you how to be a parent. It's more like a toolbox of ideas. You choose the strategies you need. You choose the way you want to use them. It's all about making Triple P work for you.
The Solihull Approach
The Solihull Approach is all about emotional health and well-being. They provide training and resources for practitioners working with children and families. They also provide online courses and face to face groups for parents.
West Sussex Mind
West Sussex Mind is an independent local charity. They support people with their mental health, provide specialist training and campaign to improve services and promote understanding. 
Fegans
Fegans aims to support as many children and families as possible through counselling and parent support. They provide a full range of professional counselling services.
