Welcome to Apple Class!

Autumn Term 2023

Welcome back to our Year 1 children and welcome to all our new Reception children!

Our learning this term will begin with a focus on diversity and inclusion and we will be using a variety of texts to support this. We will be talking about our differences and how we are all special.

We will then move on to the theme 'The Skies Above our Eyes' and consider the question 'What Happens at night?'.

As scientists, we will be learning about nocturnal animals and we are looking forward to a visit from Nite Owls to provide first hand experiences and a stimulus for writing. As authors, we will be writing information pages about owls and as artists, we will be designing and creating owl sculptures made from clay.

As historians, we will find out why Katherine Johnson is a significant person and we will also learn about Bonfire Night and why it is remembered today.

We have added some new photos of our learning environment below.

We will be sharing some photos of our learning throughout the term.
